June 16th was a busy day for us. It was the date of the NFL Emerging Business Workshop held in Miami Gardens, which was sponsored by Barbara J. Jordan, Miami-Dade County and Sprint.

Over 250 small, minority and women-owned business owners attended the event to engage in a healthy discussion about doing business with the NFL and the Super Bowl Host Committee.

Speakers spoke of their previous experience with the Emerging Business Program, touching upon the benefits they received from the program and the things to avoid. Some notable members of the panel included the NFL's Tisha Ford, Miami-Dade Commissioner Barbara Jordan and Mike Zimmer.

Community Outreach Coordinator, Kellen Arnold, on behalf of the Emerging Business department said, "we believe the event was a success, because we had a lot of new companies in attendance who really needed to receive the information presented."

Thank you to all those who attended the event and were a part of the NFL's cause to promote economic growth and future success.

We are proud to host our record breaking 10th Super Bowl on February 7th, 2010 at Dolphin Stadium.

And for the first time in decades, the Pro Bowl is coming back to the mainland. The NFL's All Star Game will be held the week before Super Bowl XLIV on January 31st, 2010, also at Dolphin Stadium. The Pro Bowl is already generating excitement, and you can be part of it all.

We want to make sure that you and your friends come out to Dolphin Stadium to watch your favorite NFL All-Stars showcase their talent on the gridiron. You can witness one of the greatest collections of professional football talent known to the game. Be a part of history and make sure you're inside Dolphin Stadium for the 2010 Pro Bowl.

NFL Emerging Business in conjunction with the Honorable Barbara J. Jordan, Miami-Dade County Commissioner - District 1, will host an NFL Emerging Business Workshop on June 16, 2009. The workshop will be hosted at Florida Memorial University in the Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts.

The Office of Miami-Dade Commissioner, Barbara J. Jordan took the initiative to sponsor this event alongside Sprint and Miami-Dade County. This workshop will bring awareness on the various possibilities available for small businesses that are managed by minority and/or women owners.

The NFL Emerging Business Program is designed to provide local minority and woman-owned businesses with prime opportunities to participate in the Super Bowl procurement process. The program does not guarantee the receipt of Super Bowl-related contracts, but it does insure that minority and women-owned businesses receive the proper information regarding the Super Bowl procurement process and programming opportunities.
